Pepper's Newsletter April 21, 2020

Pepper's Newsletter April 21, 2020

Good morning!  On today's date in 1918 during World War I German aerial fighter ace Baron Manfred von Richthofen "The Red Baron" was shot down and killed over Vaux sur Somme in France. He was credited with 80 confirmed kills with the German Air Force before Canadian pilot Arthur Roy Brown finally brought him down.

Before we get into the newsletter today, we'd just like to say thanks for the overwhelmingly positive feedback we've received from you as we move into our second week of Concierge Shopping! We're proud to say that we are able to offer a 24 hour (or less) turnaround time for both home delivery or pick-up, 7 days a week! Go to www.peppers-foods.com. There you click the link to be directed to our website and at the top of the page you can choose Delivery or Pickup. That's all there is to it. Or use our Concierge Shopping where you come on down, make a list and let us shop it for you in minutes!

Ok, despite the pandemic we're still able to procure new items so let's get busy with that right now! Back in the day Mrs. Garrett of The Facts of Life used to teach the girls, "A good cook cleans as she goes." That still rings true today although it applies to the boys as well. Dawn Powerwash Dish Spray is the faster, easier way to clean dishes as you cook. Simply spray the dirty dishes in your sink and then wipe and rinse when it comes time to clean up! Available in Citrus Scent or Fresh Scent, it will change the way you wash dishes!

Is your fresh produce clean enough for your liking? If not, you can remove unwanted pesticides, dirt, animal manure or other contaminants with Nature Clean Fruit & Veggie Spray Wash (for hard fruits and vegetables) and Nature Clean Fruit & Veggie Soak Concentrate for soft items like grapes, berries and broccoli. Its 98% naturally derived ingredients come from plants and minerals. Rinse with cool fresh water.

If you've been following the advice of our trusted health professionals then your hands should have been washed 49 times since you got up this morning. Ok, maybe not that many times. But we should all be washing our hands frequently. And as a result of all this cleansing, some products such as Method, are unavailable right now. So we're getting in items that we think you'll like instead. One such line is Attitude Natural Hand Soaps. We have two different lines: Attitude Super Leaves which, according to the company website, states: Thanks to the genius of science, it is now possible to extract the active ingredients from a variety of leaves so you can enjoy their many benefits every day. Rich in minerals, vitamins and growth factors, and with strong regenerative powers, leaves have the remarkable ability to give you glowing skin. There's also Attitude Sensitive Skin Care Natural hand Soap which is enriched with soothing oatmeal. Both types are hypoallergenic and dermatologically tested, are EWG verified and contain worry free ingredients!

So far we've talked about products to clean your dishes, your food and your hands. So logically it follows that we'd have one to offer that you can use for your clothes. A few weeks ago we talked about the grotesque amount of plastic that has been generated since the 1950s. If you're trying to minimize the amount of plastic that your purchase, you've probably realised that there are limited options when it comes to laundry detergent. Most of the liquid options means you get to take it home in a thick plastic bottle. Here's a genuine game-changer in laundry detergent: Tru Earth Eco Strips! As per the company website: Tru Earth Eco-Strips are the smartest way to clean laundry, period. Each laundry strip packs ultra-concentrated, hypoallergenic, eco-friendly cleaning power into a tiny, pre-measured strip of liquidless laundry detergent that you just toss in the wash. Its low-sudsing formula works in all types of washing machines, including high-efficiency (HE).

The smart formulation effectively seeks out and dislodges dirt molecules and stains, keeping them in suspension until they are rinsed away. It makes your laundry washing chore easier, healthier, more economical, and much kinder to our planet. Clean, green, and simple!

Let's switch gears and start talking about new items that you can eat! Breakfast food seems like a great place to start. Qrunch Organics Quinoa Breakfast Toastables are a great alternative to pancakes, waffles or french toast. Made with millet and quinoa, and lightly sweetened with organic cane sugar, these yummy breakfast edibles go wicked awesome with maple syrup, jam, honey, nut butters or cream cheese. They're (are you ready?) gluten-free, wheat-free, animal-free, dairy-free, nut-free, soy-free, egg-free, MSG-free and corn-free (whew!).

For those of you who prefer a good old fashioned bowl of cereal in the morning, Kellogg's Mini-Wheats Unfrosted Cocoa is very high in fibre (so you can also clean your insides out!). They've ditched the frosting for real cocoa baked-in every biscuit.

Now that people are stuck inside, home-baking seems to have made a bit of a resurgence. Actually, it's made a giant resurgence. So if you're looking for some ingredients for your next bake-off, look no further than Trophy Thompson Raisins, Trophy Golden Raisins or Trophy Pitted Dates. There's not much more to say about these three. But if you want 'em, we've got 'em.

Finally, there's Simply West Coast Frozen Wild Shrimp. These little guys are imported from the United States and they're cooked, peeled and ready-to-eat!

Well folks, that's it for another week. You can see that we have another smaller ad and we'll keep going that way for the forseeable future until things return to some state of normality. Thanks for having a read and for making Pepper's your preferred grocery store! Until next week, take good care!
