Pepper's Newsletter April 7, 2020

Good morning!  Did you know that 43 years from this past Sunday, Earth will make first contact with the Vulcan species? Well, assuming that what happens in Star Trek is accurate, it will. So we've got that to look forward to! Also, American gangster Joe "Crazy Joe" Gallo of New York City was born on April 7, 1929 and also died April 7, 1972 by gunshot wounds. This being the same man who was famously quoted,"I respectfully decline to answer because I honestly believe my answer might tend to incriminate me." The song "Joey" written by Bob Dylan was also dedicated to him.

There's lots to talk about this week so let's get busy. First off, in order to keep our shoppers and our staff safe from the coronovirus, Pepper's will be implementing some changes very shortly. Once we have all the details sorted out, we'll be posting on our website and sending out an email to all of our subscribers, as well as posting on our social media pages. So stay tuned for some news...

Secondly, we are selling Girl Guide Cookies on their behalf because they can't social distance and also sell cookies door to door. The entire cost of the box of cookies goes directly back to them so know that we are in no way profiting from this. Support the Girl Guides and buy a box or two.

And thirdly, you'll notice that we have attached our ad to this email for the first time in several weeks! Although it is smaller than normal, there are still some great deals for you to take advantage of!

As far as new products, there's no shortage of those. And the first one that we're showcasing today is Microban 24. As per the Procter and Gamble news release: Microban 24 is a new brand of antibacterial home sanitizing products that keeps surfaces protected against bacteria for 24 hours when used as directed. Not only does Microban 24 kill 99.9% of bacteria on contact, but it also keeps working throughout the day. Microban 24 provides a protective shield that keeps killing bacteria for a full 24 hours, even when the surface is touched or contacted multiple times. That means that surfaces can be touched again without having to re-sanitize! And that's good news in these contagious times. Pepper's has two Bathroom Spray scents as well as a Multipurpose Spray.

As far as hand sanitizers go, it can be pretty hard to come by these days. But we've added another one for your consideration. All-Clean Natural Lemon Mint Hand Sanitizer is made by a Canadian company with 62% isopropyl alcohol, as well as other natual ingredients, for a refreshing and effective hand sanitizer.

Though not a disinfectant, Allen's Cleaning Vinegar is twice as strong as regular white vinegar and is excellent for all cleaning applications, is totally non-toxic, environmentally friendly and economical! Though we've sold it in the 2.5L jug for quite some time, only recently have we stocked this item in a convenient spray trigger bottle.

Island Essentials of Mill Bay, BC, continues to expand their line of health and beauty as well as aromatherapy products. New Island Essentials Natural Aromatherapy Room Mists come in three scents that are nice, natural and nifty for the nostril nerves!  And because they're made from plant-derived, nature-identical ingredients, with no synthetic fragrances or petroleum, you won't spray it and run! Re-use the bottle to reduce your environmental footprint.

Speaking of reducing your footprint, did you know that less than 10% of plastic gets recycled in Canada? You might also want to know that 8.3 billion metric tons (9.1 billion US tons) of plastic has been produced since it was introduced in the 1950s. That's a staggering number. So if you don't like the idea of purchasing shampoo that comes in a plastic bottle (as almost all of them do) then consider switching to one that doesn't. Island Essentials Natural Shampoo Bars come in Gentleman's Blend (Ginger Cedar Sandalwood) and Cardamom Cream (Cardamom Chamomile Vanilla) scents. They lather just like liquid shampoos and can be used on the body although they are specifically formulated for the hair, scalp and beard using all-natural ingredients.

Parents want nothing but the best for their babies. That's why we now carry Simply Kids 100% Organic Baby Food Purees in numerous great flavours! There are no fillers, no artificial flavours or colours, no added sugar or salt and no BPA in the packaging. Your 6+ month old will be giddy with delight slurping back these delicious and nutritious purees!

You'll be giddy snacking on new Nestle KitKat Ice Cream available in Matcha Green Tea, Salted Caramel Burst and Espresso Explosion! Hey, if you're staying in (like you should be) you've got loads of time on your hands, right? What else is there to do but eat junk and watch Netflix? Exactly. You're welcome.

Alright, that's all there is for this week. From all of us here at Pepper's we wish you and yours a very Happy Easter! Try and get creative this year hiding the eggs from the Easter Bunny: place under a stack of sanitizing wipes, take advantage of that huge pile of beverage containers accumulating in the broom closet, hollow out that loaf of bread that you baked for something to do, insert in one of the hundreds of toilet paper rolls in the garage. The possibilities are endless!

Until next week, take good care.
