If you're a carnivore, you're probably pretty keen on firing up the BBQ and throwing a thick slab of beef on the grill. Especially now that summer is here. Well, finally, after a long absence, Pepper's is happy to announce that Sawmill Sesame Steak Sauce is now available once again! Sawmill Prime Rib & Steak House is known for its amazing Sesame Steak Sauce. Made from a blend of sesame seeds and other fresh ingredients, this sauce is a must on steaks and also makes a delicious dip for vegetables, french fries or baked potatoes! Once it’s in your refrigerator you will want to try it with everything!
Modern Mill Bay, B.C. is a favourite location for boaters, cyclists and hikers. But did you know that there is now a growing demand from a farm there to provide duck eggs to those who love them? And believe us, those who love them reallly love them! Mill Bay Farms Duck Eggs are now located in our dairy department in a six pack carton and each and every one of them has a photo of the duck that layed those eggs! But wait, what's the difference between a hen's egg and a duck egg? Great question!
Taken from The Free Range Life website: "...Size. The size difference is just as apparent from the inside - the yolk is much larger in the duck egg than in the chicken egg. The shells of a duck egg are much tougher, and it can be harder to get a clean crack, but it also leads to a longer shelf life. When it comes to nutrition duck eggs and chicken eggs are pretty similar in their contents. But in most cases duck eggs come out on top."
- They have a higher (good!) fat content
- Ducks eggs are higher in protein than chicken eggs
- They also have a little bit more cholesterol than chicken eggs (again, this is a good thing!)
- They also contain more vitamins and minerals- such as iron, B12, folate and vitamin A
- They are full of Omega-3 fatty acids
So give these eggs a try and see if you love them as much as we think you will!
