Good morning!
We hope all the dad's out there had a terrific Father's Day despite the cloud and drizzle. Can you believe that another Tuesday is here already? That means it's the start of our new ad! And because it's sockeye salmon season our meat department has FRESH sockeye salmon fillets on special this week for only $4.46 per 100 grams. So fire up the grill or pan and choose some tasty fillets for a delicious and healthy dinner! Here are a few facts about this delicious fish:
- Juveniles remain in freshwater until they are ready to migrate to the ocean, over distances of up to 1,600 km (990 mi)!
- The name "sockeye" is an anglicization of suk-kegh, its name in Halkomelem, the language of the indigenous people along the lower reaches of the Fraser River (one of British Columbia's many native Coast Salish languages). Suk-kegh means "red fish".
- The rich colour and oil content of sockeye may be attributed to their diet which includes a high percentage of shrimp and other crustaceans.
A great compliment to your salmon could be Field Gold Dipping Sauces. These are mustard based sauces and the Honey Lime Ginger Sauce is excellent for dipping pretzels, crackers, veggies or bite sized chicken or other meat or sausages.
