Good morning! On this day in 1874, Robert Lee Frost was born in San Francisco, going on to become widely regarded by many as the greatest American poet of the 20th Century. He won the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry four times, only one of four to achieve this accomplishment and the only poet ever to do so. In honour of his remarkable and enduring body of work, and because spring has finally arrived, here are a few lines from his 1923 poem Nothing Gold Can Stay:
Nature’s first green is gold, Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower; But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf, So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day, Nothing gold can stay.
