Good morning! March came in like a lamb this year (at least here in Victoria it did) and the sight and smell all things spring were on full display: pretty pink plum blossoms, hummingbirds flitting about from flower to flower, bright sunshine and loads of people out for walks or bike rides. Given the current state of affairs in the world, it was pretty much the perfect day to remember just how fortunate we are to live where we do. Unless of course you suffer from seasonal allergies. Then all those blossoms and flowers might make it feel like you've been transported to a hell realm. But that was the first of March. Today is the third! And what's significant about March 3rd? Well, if you're Canadian, it's pretty cool to note that the very first organized game of hockey occured on this day in 1875! It took place at the Victoria Skating Rink in Montreal and it was executed by a group of McGill University students who had come up with the rules. The rest, as they say, is history!
This week we have a good amount of new products to tell you about so let's cut to the chase and jump in!
Two weeks ago we told you about the new and exciting Evive Smoothie Cubes, the fruit, veggie and plant-based protein cubes that you add to a bottle of your fave liquid and shake into a nutritious and delicious smoothie. They were such a hit that we added three more flavours: Yin (mango, carrot, apple juice, apricot, apple, oats, chai spices), Samourai (raspberry, strawberry, beet, chia seeds, date, orange, lemon, mint) and Pure (mango, spinach, avocado, matcha tea, ginger, date, orange, coconut cream, mint, lime, baobab, chlorella, moringa)! There's other stuff in there, too, but this gives you the basic idea of what each flavour is about. That's a total of six different kinds of goodness to choose from so make sure you try these convenient and very tasty frozen smoothie cubes today!
Drinkable yogurt is big with the kiddies but for those with a lactose intolerance, they're out of the question. You'd think that by now there would be a lactose free version, right? Well, there is...finally! IOGO Nano Lactose Free Drinkable Yogurt comes in Strawberry Banana flavour and it also comes in a spill-proof bottle! Made from vitamin D fortified milk there's also 40% less sugar and zero gelatine. Jimmy and Jill's lunch and snacking options just got a little bigger thanks to these little beauties!
If the kids would rather just eat yogurt the old fashioned way, you know, with a spoon, then new Olympic Kids Organic Multipack Blueberry Stirred Yogurt should fit the bill nicely. It's made from wholesome milk from grassfed cows and is sweetened naturally with organic fruits. There's nothing in there that isn't 100% natural. Which will, naturally, make moms and dads feel good about giving it to their children.
Don't worry all you non-dairy consumers who might be reading this, you haven't been forgotten. With new Silk Almond Vanilla Yogurt Alternative you get a deliciously dairy-free dessert or snack in a single serve format that's made with almonds and a hint of vanilla. And it's completely soy-free as well!
And for those of you who used to drink Manitoba Harvest Hemp Bliss Original Unsweetened Fortified Hemp Beverage, you're in luck because Pepper's has it back again on the shelf! It's high (no pun intended) in Omegas 3 and 6 polyunsaturated fatty acids, contains no added sugar, soy, gluten or nuts, is vegan and is also free of carrageenan. And, it's free of all major food allergens. We mentioned that it's fortified. In fact, it's as nutritious as cow's milk, but it has zero sugar! This bevvie is straight-up delish and, if you ask nicely on the dry-erase board, we might just bring in the Original or Vanilla flavours, too!
Here's a really great idea to eliminate waste by the really great local business, Singing Bowl Granola. Their Singing Bowl Granola Bites come in a reusable glass jar so there's nothing to throw away after and you can use it to put something else in later on! The product, itself, though, is made with clean, wholesome ingredients that makes for a perfect pre or post-workout snack or just a tasty and healthy snack anytime! They're grain-free and great for paleo or vegan diets!
Tired of the same old energy bars? Why not use nature's candy to fuel your next workout or to replenish your depleted glycogen levels afterwards? New Organic Honey Stinger Waffles takes simple, organic ingredients and pure honey and makes a delightful and enjoyable treat out of them! These certified gluten-free snacks come in Original and Salted Caramel flavours and are very similar to the popular Dutch treat, the stroopwafel. Dairy-free, nut-free and kosher.
